Last updated: May 2026. Nudge & Reveal observations drawn from 300+ test spins across all four featured casinos, plus the official Push Gaming product page.
Nudge & Reveal is the least-talked-about but most consistently helpful feature in Razor Shark. It doesn't have the visual flash of the Razor Reveal feature, doesn't carry the chase weight of the persistent multiplier, doesn't appear on the marketing splash screens. But on roughly one in eight spins, it's the difference between half a Mystery Stack producing nothing and a full Mystery Stack producing a meaningful win. This article explains how the nudge actually fires, when you'll see it, and why Push Gaming added it as an anti-frustration mechanic.

What "Nudge & Reveal" actually does
Razor Shark uses a 5×4 visible grid, but each reel internally has buffer rows above and below the visible window. A Mystery Stack — which can be 3, 4, or more rows tall — can land partially in the buffer, meaning only part of the stack is visible on the screen when the reel stops.
Without Nudge & Reveal, the visible part of the stack would reveal alone (reduced impact) and the buffered part would be invisible (no impact at all).
With Nudge & Reveal, the reel moves down (or up) after the spin stops so the full Mystery Stack is brought entirely into the visible 4-row grid. Then the full stack reveals as a single matching symbol. The full reveal pays across more paylines than the partial reveal would have.
The mechanic is named for the two-stage process: Nudge (move the reel to fully show the stack), then Reveal (show what the stack is).
Hit frequency
In our 300-spin test set, Nudge & Reveal fired on roughly 8% of spins — about 1 in 12.
This is more frequent than most players realise. The animation isn't dramatic — just a smooth reel adjustment — so it's easy to miss if you're auto-spinning fast. But the cumulative effect across a session is meaningful: nudges produce roughly 15-20% of the base-game's high-pay reveal opportunities.
| Event | Frequency in test set |
|---|---|
| Mystery Stack lands fully visible | ~14% of spins |
| Mystery Stack lands partial → Nudge & Reveal fires | ~8% of spins |
| Total Mystery Stack reveal events | ~22% of spins |
About one in three Mystery Stack events comes via Nudge & Reveal. If you removed the mechanic, you'd lose roughly that proportion of your stack revelations.
When does the nudge fire?
The game's internal logic decides. There's no player input, no setting to toggle, no bet-size threshold. Specifically:
- A Mystery Stack is generated for a reel.
- The reel spins.
- The reel stops with the stack landing partially in the buffer rows (above row 1 or below row 4).
- If the buffer offset is small enough that a nudge can bring the full stack into view, the reel nudges.
- The nudge animates (smooth slide of the reel by 1-3 rows).
- The full stack reveals.
The condition that determines whether the nudge fires is roughly: is the stack small enough that the visible 4 rows can contain it after a nudge? If yes, nudge. If the stack is 5+ rows tall (which can happen but is rare), the nudge may not be sufficient and the stack reveals partially.
What you'll actually see
Visually, the nudge is subtle. The reel adjusts by 1-3 rows (slides down or up) with a smooth animation that takes ~0.3 seconds. There's no flash, no sound effect specific to the nudge — just the standard reel-adjustment hum.
Then the dark stack reveals as a single symbol — Diver, treasure chest, fish, card-rank, whatever — and paylines evaluate as usual.
The visual telltale: if you see a reel that briefly slides after the reel stops, you've just witnessed a Nudge & Reveal. The lack of fanfare is intentional — Push Gaming wanted the mechanic to feel like natural game behaviour, not like a feature pop-up.
Why this matters for payout
Consider two scenarios for a 4-row Mystery Stack:
Scenario A — no nudge:
- Stack lands with only 2 rows visible.
- Reveals as 2 Divers on visible reel 3.
- Paylines check: maybe 1 or 2 lines complete a 3-Diver hit.
- Payout: modest, 5-15× stake.
Scenario B — with nudge:
- Stack lands with only 2 rows visible initially.
- Reel nudges so all 4 rows are visible.
- Reveals as 4 Divers on reel 3.
- Paylines check: 4 lines could complete 3-Diver hits, or even chain 5-of-a-kind hits if other reels also have Divers/wilds.
- Payout: significant, 30-200× stake possible.
The nudge doubles or quadruples the effective stack height on partial-landing scenarios. Across a session, this contributes meaningfully to your average return.
Nudge & Reveal during free spins
Inside the bonus round, Nudge & Reveal fires the same way and at roughly the same frequency. The effect is multiplied by the persistent multiplier, so a nudge that brings a Diver stack fully into view during a 10× multiplier round produces a substantial bonus-round win.
A nudge + full Mystery Stack reveal + Razor Reveal feature firing in the same spin is one of the highest-EV moments in the game. It's rare but possible.
Anti-frustration as a design choice
Without Nudge & Reveal, players would see partial Mystery Stacks and frequently wonder "what if it had landed one row down?" Push Gaming clearly anticipated this and built the nudge to eliminate the near-miss frustration.
This is good design. The same principle drives Hacksaw Gaming's xWays mechanic (Cash Patrol etc.) and Nolimit City's xSymbol feature — features that prevent the "almost" outcome from feeling cruel. Razor Shark was an early adopter of the principle.
Misconceptions about the nudge
"The nudge is random and could go either direction." Functionally yes — the nudge moves the reel to bring the full stack into view, which can mean a downward or upward adjustment depending on where the stack landed. Players don't see the underlying logic, just the result.
"The nudge only fires on high-pay stacks." No — the nudge fires whenever a stack lands partially. The reveal symbol is determined separately; you can absolutely get nudged to reveal a card-rank low-pay.
"Bigger bets get more nudges." No — same probability across all bet sizes.
"Nudges replace bonus triggers." No — they're independent mechanics. A nudge can reveal Razor Reveal scatters that then contribute to triggering free spins, but the nudge itself isn't a substitute for the bonus.
"You can force a nudge by waiting." No — every spin is independent.
Why this feature gets overlooked
The Razor Reveal feature is loud, dramatic, multiplier-shifting, clip-worthy. Mystery Stacks are flashy reveals. Nudge & Reveal is a quiet reel adjustment that just makes the stack mechanic work better. It doesn't get screenshotted, it doesn't appear in the YouTube thumbnails, it doesn't sell the game in the trailer.
But it's responsible for a meaningful share of your base-game wins. If you've ever had a session where the base game felt unusually generous, you probably had a streak of nudges that produced multiple full-stack reveals.

Quick FAQ
Can I turn Nudge & Reveal off? No — it's a core game feature, not a toggle.
Does the nudge cost anything extra? No — it's part of the spin you've already paid for.
Does the nudge change RTP? It's already factored into the 96.70%.
Will the nudge always bring the full stack into view? Usually yes, for stacks up to 4 rows. Very tall stacks (5+ rows) may not fit even after a nudge.
Does the nudge fire on every reel that has a partial stack? Each reel is evaluated independently; multiple reels can nudge on the same spin.
Is this the same as Big Time Gaming's MegaWays? No — MegaWays adjusts the number of paylines per reel by varying symbol heights. Nudge & Reveal moves a reel after the spin to bring a stack fully into view.
Does the nudge happen before or after Razor Reveal scatters are counted? The nudge happens first; then symbols (including any revealed scatters) are evaluated for triggers and paylines.
